Considered Factors in the Design of V-Shaped Protection Sheets
In the field of level detection, V-shaped protection sheets are commonly used in combination with level switches such as Vibrating Rod Level Switches, RF Admittance Level Switches and Rotary Paddle Switches. The reasonable design and proper use of V-shaped protection sheets are the key factors to consider for the design.
The shape and size
V-shaped angle: The angle of the sheet should be decided based on the medium characteristics and fluidity. For most mediums, the cross-sectional shape of the protection sheet is a convex shape (inverted “V” section). If the medium is coarse and abrasive, the sheet should be concave shape (erected “V” section, so medium could stack up a bit in concave area.
The length of the V-shaped protection sheet must be longer than the probe intrusion length (horizontally), and the width should be large enough to cover the probe. The width of the sheet should also take into account the medium fluidity to ensure that the medium can slide down the sheet smoothly without getting stuck or blocked.
Material selection
1. Wear resistance: Wear resistant materials can effectively reduce the wear of the sheet with longer service life.
2. Smoothness: Smooth surface of the sheet reduces medium buildup and accumulation.
Position
1. Distance of the level switch: The sheet should be installed above the level switch and maintain an appropriate distance from the sensing area.
2. Distance from the filling stream: Avoid installing the level switch near inlet point so that the probe does not protrude directly into filling stream. This can prevent instruments from filling impact damage or generating false signals.
Coordination
The mounting position and angle of the sheet should be designed according to the mounting position of the level switch. Adjust the slope of the sheet for a better medium flow without obstruction. At the same time, ensure the level switch accurately detects the high level and low level alarms.
